“Great achievements are always born from a far‑sighted vision, but without the incomparable ambition to give one’s very best, nothing truly great can ever be created.”

The Estate

A small winery, a singular hill

In the early 1980s, Ugo bottled his first wines, personally selecting grapes from six hectares of vineyards at Cascina Nuova, in the heart of the historic Gallina hill. Once part of the vineyard holdings of the Counts Riccardi Candiani of Neive, the property is today owned by the Marcarino family.

The experience gained over the years, together with continuous research and experimentation in both vineyard and cellar, helped establish the winery as part of the quality revolution that shaped the modern culture of fine wine.

Ugo has always believed that great wines need time: only patient ageing gives a wine its class, depth and longevity. His wines are released only after a long, carefully judged rest.

In the spirit of continuity

Serena & Andrea, since 2020

Since 2020, Serena and Andrea, Ugo’s son-in-law, have carried the journey forward, honouring his legacy and leading the winery in the spirit of continuity.

Serena oversees the administrative and management side of the business, while Andrea focuses on the cellar, the heart of production. Vineyard management continues, as in Ugo’s time, in close collaboration with the Marcarino and Cavagnero families, with the consultancy of Gianfranco Cordero and Mattia Malabaila.

The ambition remains the same as it has been from the beginning: wines that combine typicity, finesse and balance, allowing time to complete their journey.

The Cru

Gallina, Neive

One of the great historic crus of Barbaresco. Our parcels — Piazzola, Liste Lunghe and Bricco — rise from 170 to 250 metres, on vines planted between 1951 and 2017.

All our red wines come from the Gallina cru in Neive, one of Barbaresco’s historic vineyard areas, renowned for its expression of Nebbiolo and Barbera.
